Embrace the great outdoors & join the new running club at Fota Island Resort!

For many the weekly running routine of staying fit could entail the manoeuvring of busy city streets or suburban carriageways. For this reason Fota Island Resort has added the Running Club to its ever growing range of fitness classes and activities. With Fota Island’s vast choice of running trails which criss cross the island, the Running Club will provide the perfect way to work out with your friends and peers while also maintaining motivation.

Since 2014, the five star resort in Ireland has been proud host to four Challenge Series races, two of which took place in 2015. The most recent Forest Trail Run took place on Sunday, 28th June, which offered participants the opportunity to race through the woodland which surrounds the 5 star Cork hotel with lovely views and enchanted forested pathways.

What makes the Fota Island Running Club different is that it’s open to runners of all levels and abilities from beginners to seasoned athletes. The ultimate aim of the Running Club initiative is to help promote running and aerobic fitness within the local community as well as showcase the range of new and visually stunning running routes which circulate throughout the Fota Island.

The Running Club is affiliated with the Athletics Association of Ireland, and there will be experienced fitness instructors from the resorts luxury Cork spa available to provide hands-on instruction and coaching including trail running. There will be two training sessions per week that include speed training and running conditioning, the club will teach you the proper techniques to significantly improve both your endurance and speed. If you become a member of the Running club then you will have exclusive access to running-club trails open seven days a week.

How do you join the Running Club?

To join, there is a €60 fee for a 12-month membership, if you are unsure if the running club is the right thing for you, Fota Island Resort welcomes you to try one of the scheduled training sessions for free prior to joining. The scenic and various levels of running routes are sure to impress runners of every skill level, so why not give it a go!

Training

  • Monday: 7:30pm – 8:30pm
  • Thursday: 6:40pm – 7:40pm
