Movie Junction based in Fota Retail Park at Carrigtwohill first opened some 2 years ago with one 17 metre high, 20 metre wide, and 2,500 square foot screen. The only drive in cinema in Ireland, Movie Junction proved a great success with locals and visitors to the area on family hotel breaks that demand was there from customers to expand and in May of this year they opened a second screen.
The addition of this second screen means a further 80 cars can be catered for in addition to the 100-space area for screen-one and with the additional screen movies can be shown simultaneously as well as allowing for them to cater for families with children. The set up of the drive in cinema mean each car has a direct clear view of the screen and venue owners how catered for all weather eventualities ensuring each car parking bay is covered by a canopy to protect the car windscreen from the elements and audio for the film is provided by tuning the car stereo to frequency provided.
