Summer is officially over and with the kids going back to school it brings with it the realisation of a new term and all the things that go with it. With the change in time and weather, Autumn is the perfect chance for many to start afresh and try new/add new things to your routine for the new seasons colder months ahead. The new season and the new term heralds a change of plans and often allows us the perfect opportunity to add some subtle changes to our lives and routine with many colleges; sporting and hobby groups; as well as Cork hotels and gyms offering up a new season of fitness classes and courses to make the shorter, cooler autumn and approaching winter months more palatable.

During the long warm days of the summer and the exciting events of the summer sporting calendar many of us may have ignited a passion for the outdoors, mastering new sports and ultimately upping our fitness levels. Whether it be by heading off to the beaches and coastal areas off Cork City, taking full advantage of the many water sports available in the area or taking in the many walks and sights. And just because the colder months of autumn and winter are approaching doesn’t mean we need forego all the adrenaline pumping activities with so many alternative indoor and outdoor exercise classes starting.

So for many, energised and inspired by the many outdoor attractions the warm and long days of summer have presented, September and autumn is as good a time as the New Year to start a new fitness regime, minus the guilt trip and pressure that the New Year and Christmas excesses enforces. In keeping in line with the change of season, the ending of summer and the beginning of a new term, we at Fota Island Resort, one of the leading spa hotels in Ireland,  have unveiled our new exercise and fitness classes for the autumn season. These include spinning and running classes, outdoor bootcamp, total body circuit training, personal training, cross training, power core ball, HIIT (high intensity interval training), fusion yoga classes and for children, ballet classes.

Swimming enthusiasts and novice swimmers of all ages are not forgotten with swimming lessons and even a special series of swimming classes for toddlers aged 2-3 years called Fota Fishies. A perfect way to keep up the good habits and adventures learned, and if the summer may have had one feeling a bit rusty and lacking in confidence in ones swimming abilities, dreaming of swimming confidently in the waters along the coast, autumn and the winter months may present the perfect opportunity to master swimming in the safer and warmer confines of a hotel in Cork with a leisure centre.
