The Fota Island Junior Scratch Cup competition took place on the 21st June and saw Michael O’Driscoll emerge victorious at the championship Cork golf club. O’Driscoll’s victory marked the second victory in the competition for a member of his family following his son Robert’s victory 12 months earlier at the same venue.
This year’s event which took place on the Deerpark Course, saw O’Driscoll senior add his name to the list of winners with a round of 76. O’Driscoll playing off a single figure handicap of 7 was one clear of the field, which recorded a clean sweep for the home club. The Top 3 positions were completed by Daniel Devlin in second (77) and Mike Moloney (78) in third position.
Fota Island Open Week
The annual Resort Open Week takes place between the 27th July and 3rd August with a choice of seven events over an eight day period for golfers locally and beyond making their way to 5 star hotel in cork. All competitions are taking place on the famous Deerpark Course, the course that hosted the Irish Open in 2014.
