The Golf Academy here at Fota Island Golf in Cork has 4000 square yards of first class turf to practice everything from chipping and putts to clean crisp iron shots and long drives. The range is well over 350 yards long and has three specially designed target greens with traps to make practice more realistic and worthwhile.
As more than half of the game is played from 100 yards and inwards you can enjoy a fantastic short game facility to fine tune your skills. The pitching area is 120 yards long; it again has two greens with hazards and other targets at various distances for precise practice. The chipping green is well shaped and sloped to allow for every conceivable greenside shot and is surrounded on two sides with differently styled bunkers providing you with an optimum array of bunker shots. The purpose built putting green is in close proximity and is gently undulating to allow for all sorts of situations you may find yourself on the course, perfect for practice. Indeed with a fantastic synthetic indoor putting green, that runs true all year round at a tour standard pace, inclement weather won’t interrupt your practice.
The Golf Academy building also hosts ten covered bays that are well lit and heated. Our two state of the art teaching rooms have all the latest hi- tech video computer systems and a full array of teaching aids. There are locker rooms and shower facilities for visitors as well as a relaxing café in which you can enjoy lunch or light refreshments.
