Fota Island Resort received some great news recently when the resort’s state of the art Training Facility was nominated in the Best Sports Facility category in the upcoming Irish Sports Industry Awards. The winners will be announced at the inaugural awards night at the Smock Alley Theatre on 5th November.
The training facility which is located in the grounds of the 5 star luxury Cork hotel at Fota Island Resort, faces some stiff competition in the Best Sports Facility category which also includes DCU Sport and the National Sports Campus.
The facility comprises two full-size football and rugby pitches with one GAA pitch, the facility is maintained to the highest possible international standards. The Cork venue has welcomed a number of elite sports organisations over the past few years including:
The resort also incorporates the award-winning spa in the hotel spanning an area of 1,600 square metres. This luxury Cork Spa comprises 18 treatment rooms with over 60 treatments on offer. The jewel in the crown for visiting sports teams is the magnificent Hydrotherapy Suite, home to Ireland’s only ‘walking river’ which uses water currents and reflexology to revitalise an athlete’s body, which is ideal for non impact physiotherapy and recovery sessions.

The awards are being organised by the Federation of Irish Sport and are being sponsored by a range of businesses. The eleven strong judging panel comes from the worlds of media, medicine and business.
