This Valentine’s season, elevate your celebrations with dinner in The Cove, the elegant, intimate restaurant at Fota Island Resort. Under the guidance of Head Chef Eoghan O’Flynn, The Cove’s special Valentine’s dinner is a fresh and delicious early spring menu inspired by fine local and seasonal ingredients.
Chef O’Flynn continues his commitment to showcasing the country’s culinary treasures with a sophisticated and creative five-course Valentine’s menu, beginning with a beef Katsu sando, beetroot tartlet, crème fraîche and dill, followed by Irish king scallop with horseradish cream, Granny Smith apple, and tarragon oil.
Goats curd agnolotti with a spring vegetable broth is next, with guinea fowl terrine, pistachio, preserved fruits, and red cabbage to follow. Locally landed Ballycotton turbot with cauliflower, baby leek, and local leaves, and spring lamb rump, with aubergine, anchovy, peas, and preserved lemon are the two final savoury courses. And for dessert, there’s a delectably pretty tiramisu, reimagined for Valentine’s Day in shades of pink, with pistachio, raspberry, and rose & lychee sorbet.
Each course is designed to delight the senses, and for an extra touch of indulgence, sommelier Benz Bodnar has curated a bespoke wine pairing to complement the evening’s offering. There are vegetarian options too to ensure every palate is thoughtfully cared for, and guests will be welcomed with a glass of Champagne on arrival, setting the tone for a sparkling evening.
The Valentine’s menu is available over four evenings – February 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th – with two intimate sittings each evening at 6pm and 8.30pm. There’s a maximum of just 24 guests over the evening, adding to the relaxed, refined and romantic atmosphere.
The five-course Valentine’s tasting menu in The Cove is available for €125 per person, with the optional wine pairing an additional €75per person.
