On Saturday 25th August, Cobh Triathlon Club will host the Spike Island Jailbreak Triathlon. Competitors will begin their Jailbreak journey from Cobh Harbour’s Spike Island by swimming to Cobh’s legendary pier, which was the last port of call for the Titanic in 1912, before next tackling a gruelling cycle course around the Great Island of Cork Harbour, and finally finishing with a run along Cobh’s wonderful waterfront.
It is expected that 500 Competitors will take part including relay teams consisting of 3 people; 1 to complete the swim, 1 to complete the cycle and 1 to complete the run. The Race start will depend on competitors allocated wave times and will dependent on tide times, although it is hoped that the first of the competitors will start at 12pm.
