Following on from our last blog from the kitchens at Fota Island Hotel Restaurants Cork here are a few more tips to make life that little bit easier in the kitchen. Thanks to executive chef Neil Foster for helping us out. Hope these tips are useful 🙂
1. Tap into the seasons; be aware that certain produce is best in certain seasons. For example in winter root vegetables are best and in the summer berries are the way to go.
2. Get the whole family involved in the cooking processes. Start kids at a young age, this way it keeps them busy when you are trying to prepare dinner and creates an air of excitement for the younger generation.
3. Grow your own herbs. Again this is seasonal. Don’t worry if you don’t have a lot of space, a window sill is all that’s required. For the sill herbs including Basil, Coriander, and mint are ideal, while for those of you with a little more space hard herbs such as rosemary, thyme, and a small bay tree are best.
