Fota Island Resort will be a hub of music in March as celebrated Irish musicians Sharon Shannon and Jack L visit the 5 star hotel near Midleton on the 6th & 7th March. Both artists are synonymous with the best of the Irish music industry over many years and it promises to be an eagerly anticipated double header at the five star Cork Hotel. As one of the principal hotels near the Marquee in Cork, Fota Island Resort has often been a base from a host of musicians down through the years with some of the more notable guests over recent years including 50 Cent, Tom Jones and Jedward.
Sharon Shannon is a renowned accordionist and has reached almost legendary status across the globe and has even helped the often maligned accordion be considered as ‘cool’ in Ireland. Sharon has regularly collaborated with other artists from a range of musical genres aside from the traditional Irish music scene.
Throughout her career, Sharon has collaborated, toured and recorded with such musical heavyweights as Bono and Adam from U2, Steve Earle, Jackson Browne, Nigel Kennedy, Willie Nelson, John Prine, and Christy Moore. Not limited to theses musical luminaries, Sharon has performed for US Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama as well former Irish Presidents Robinson and McAleese, and the current incumbent Michael D. Higgins.
On Friday, 7th March, Jack L will be showcasing his latest hits including his smash hit “The Great Wall Of China” – a powerful self penned balled – when he plays at the premier five star resort in Ireland.
The revered County Kildare artist spoke to representative during a break in rehearsals for his RTE Radio 1 Christmas Eve show “Northern Lights… I’ll be giving a great mix of songs in Fota Island, It’s a unique venue and the atmosphere is terrific there. I’ll also be doing some old and some new songs. Really looking forward to it”
