One of the best wedding hotels in Cork, translating the vision of brides and grooms dream wedding reception into a reality are very important for us, which is why we were interested in the results of the recent wedding survey completed by the Wedding Journal Show.

The survey highlighted how big a role weddings played in people’s lives especially after recent years where wedding budgets have been tighter. Back in vogue is the “big do” with many of those surveyed claiming that they preferred to save up and splash out on providing a big day spectacle for family and friends. It seems that nowadays when it comes to weddings, “the bigger the better” phrase is certainly true.

Bigger guest lists and budgets call for a large wedding venue with venues accommodating larger weddings found to be choice for almost half of those surveyed. 93% of couples surveyed refer to marry at home in Ireland and the most popular day for holding a wedding is still Saturday, although with 30% of those surveyed claiming that Friday  is their preferred choice for their big day, especially for couples looking to make a weekend of it! Thursday weddings are also found to gaining popularity with couples as well as the first day of the month. In other areas, 50% of “brides to be” are found to choose their own engagement ring which on average costs €2,500.

The survey also found that given a large sum of money is set aside for the big day, every little detail is planned and researched well in advance including what food the guests will be served, the wedding cake, dresses, transport and even themes for the wedding.
