Midterm break is just around the corner and that means one thing – seven full days that need to be filled with fun tasks and activities. If you are already stressing about how to keep your kids entertained while they are off school this Halloween, a little bit of organising and preparation will go a long way to ensure the holidays are enjoyed by all.

Stay In A Child-Friendly Hotel

Midterm is the perfect excuse to spend some quality time with family ahead of the busy run-up to Christmas and before the winter chill arrives. If you’re heading away for a family hotel break, choosing a family-friendly hotel with highly-rated facilities for children is a must. Many resort hotels in Ireland cater brilliantly towards your little VIPs, offering fantastic services such as kids clubs, on-site leisure centres, playgrounds, specialised menus and Garda vetted babysitters. The little ones will be kept busy with treasure hunts, evening discos and cinema nights.

Sign Them Up To A Kids Camp

A whole week jam-packed with exciting activities and making new friends is about as cool as it gets when you’re a kid! A locally run camp is a fabulous option if you are unable to take annual leave from work but want to ensure the kids don’t miss out. Inquire at their school or check online to see if there are any programmes running in your area such as our very own Camp Fota. There’s everything from general sports camps to sewing classes and even make up courses for pre-teens.

Organise Fun-Filled Day Trips

Sometimes we take for granted what is on our own doorstep. No matter where you live, Ireland has some spectacular scenery and things to do on family days out. So sit down with the kids and make a bucket list, pack up the car and go on a road trip. There are lots of adventures to explore from Fota Wildlife Park, The Wild Atlantic Way, Clonakilty Railway Village, Cork City Gaol and Tayto Park to name but a few.

Throw THE Most Epic Halloween Party

Want to be the coolest parent in town? Hosting a Halloween celebration at your home will go down a treat with both kiddies and parents alike – especially if you live in the country and there is nowhere to go trick or treating. Stock up on sweets, organise old school games such as apple bobbing, create your party playlist and finally state your dress code. Simple!

Get Crafty

Autumn is the perfect time to indulge in a spot of arts and craft especially if there’s plenty of local activities for kids. A stroll in the woods to forage for conkers and colourful leaves in rich hues of red, orange and yellow will provide hours of fun and imagination. If you’re lucky, you might come across some blackberries for a spot of baking. With Halloween approaching, why not challenge the little rascals to DIY their own costumes?!
