The seaside town of Youghal in East Cork will play host to the Moby Dick Festival between the 29th  and 31st May. Youghal was the chosen location where Herman Melville’s Moby Dick novel was brought to the silver screen. The three day festival will be a chance to relive the town’s close ties with Moby Dick as the area comes to life with a fantastic program of outdoor fun and frolics for visitors of all ages and will be a great day out for those enjoying a summer family hotel break or short hotel breaks in Cork.

Films will be screened on the Eastern Gable of the historic clock gate plus there will be ample opportunity for visitors to chat with some extras from the Moby Dick feature film. The festival will be opened in spectacular style with an ocean parade, with as much colour and flair comparative to the Mardi-gras with music, drumming, and costumes. Kids can enjoy a monster teddy bears picnic and treasure hunts, face painting, games, music and sports in the park. The extremely steep Windmill Hill will also play host to thrilling ball race.

All during the festival, competitions for the best action shots provide an opportunity for photography enthusiasts. The streets of this East Cork town will come alive with music, storytelling with high flying acrobats will thrill audiences, while the culinary smells and flavours of an open air food market will complete the ambiance. Readings, sea shanties and art exhibitions will round off a great seafarers weekend. Visitors can expect a jam packed weekend of fun and frolics in Youghal this May!
