Things To Do In Cobh

St Colman’s Cathedral

This cathedral is one of the most iconic landmarks in Cork, and it’s easy to see why, due to its stunning location in the seaside town of Cobh. Dating back to 1868, this architectural wonder is a must visit on your trip to Cork. The cathedral is an outstanding example of Gothic revival which boasts the 49–bell Carillon, the largest of its kind in Ireland and Britain.  After you have admired the outside of this famous church, don’t forget to go inside too as it’s also open to the public.

The Deck Of Cards

Take a stroll amongst these famous colourful houses near St. Coleman’s Cathedral, which are a photographer’s delight due to their bold and beautiful multi-coloured theme. If you want to see ‘The Deck Of Cards’ from above, head to ‘Spy Hill’ for the best view. A warning though, to see the houses from this angle you may need to climb a wall, so be careful!

Go sailing

The Titanic

Cobh is renowned as the Titanic’s last port of call in 1912 and is thus a very historical place. The Titanic Experience Cobh is a popular visitor attraction situated at the site of the original White Star Line ticket office. You can buy tickets to The Titanic Experience for groups or individuals and learn all about the story of those 123 passengers and the world famous ship. The Titanic Trail Guided Walking Tour is another excellent way to discover the island and its unique history. This fascinating guided heritage tour explores the town of Cobh and its harbour, which was the last port of call of the RMS Titanic on its final fateful journey.

Cobh Heritage Centre

Cobh Heritage Centre tells the story of Irish emigration, transportation and the world’s greatest ocean liners. Learn more about Annie Moore, who was notably the first Irish emigrant to be processed by Ellis Island, in the New York Harbor.

Spike Island

Spike Island in Cork harbour is easily accessible from Cobh. Comprising 103 acres, its strategic location off the South coast of Ireland means it has a long history of being used as a defence base and later, a prison. Today you can take a tour of this famous island and discover hundreds of years of historical significance in Irish life.

Grab A Pint At The Roaring Donkey

No visit to Cobh is complete without a visit to one of its traditional Irish pubs. The Roaring Donkey is one of the town’s oldest pubs, having been in operation for over 100 years. This pub is full of interesting memorabilia from times gone by and the ideal place to sit back with a pint of the black stuff.
